Site Design, Summer 2005
Components :
The site for the York University Sport Parachute Club was completely rebuilt during the Summer of 2005 by myself and the other webmaster at the time, Michael Täschler.
The original site was a static site built using an online template and was considerably outdated. We created the new site to be dynamic and to be able to effectively run itself.
Some key features of the site include the 5-day weather forecast, which is generated from an XML feed from weather.com, along with integration with the commonly used phpBB forum software. The forum was expanded to include some custom skydiving statistics for each user, and the administration section was also extended to include the ability to edit these features. The "Member Progression" page on the website gets the information from the phpBB forum. A Coppermine photo gallery was also installed on the site, and was integrated into the main page so that the latest photo can be seen on the home page.
The site also includes a web based administration area to allow future webmasters to update information on the front page without needing to edit any HTML and without having to use FTP.
I have since left the club and am no longer responsible for updating or maintaining the website, however at the time of writing the site is still as it was.
